I am hoping that Rotary might be able to assist with an upcoming event that is planned on the 6th June – it’s the lighting of the beacon on Epsom Downs to mark the 80th anniversary of the D Day landings.
The grandstand will be open from 7pm for refreshments and food, the beacon lighting is due to take place at 9.15pm. A lone piper will be in attendance, The Mayor will be making a speech, a Bugler will play the Last Post and we are welcoming several flag bearers from RBL.
Would Rotary be prepared to ask members if they would be prepared to be on duty as crossing marshals, ensuring that attendees can cross safely from the Grandstand to the beacon site? There would clearly be lots of discussions on the exact logistics, contributions to Rotary as a mark of gratitude, the role etc. At this stage, it would simply be helpful to know if this is something you and fellow Rotarians would consider?
Kind regards
