We donated £540 to The Learning Space

As part of our support for local community groups we donated a sum of money for their use - below is how they used it

Following our Donation, The Learning Space sent the following Thank You Letter

Dear Members of the Epsom Rotary Club,
I am writing to share a heartfelt update on the £540 donation you so kindly made to Learning Space. Your generosity has directly sponsored a block of six therapeutic sessions for a local child, providing them with a vital lifeline at a moment of acute crisis.
When children are overwhelmed by anxiety, the descent can be frighteningly fast. A quiet loss of confidence can quickly spiral into school avoidance, leaving a child deeply isolated. Your funding allows us to catch these children before that downward spiral takes hold.
I would like to share the story of "I" to illustrate exactly what your six sponsored sessions achieve. "I" came to us suffering from severe emotional and separation anxiety, which had completely eroded her confidence and her ability to participate independently in daily life.
Through the sessions you funded, our practitioners used a gentle, relationship-based approach to help "I" feel safe. Because abstract conversations about anxiety are often difficult for young children, we used hands-on, practical play. We taught her "hot chocolate breathing" to calm her nervous system and helped her build a personalised sensory box to use at home when she felt overwhelmed.
The difference in "I" over those sessions was remarkable. Her self-reported happiness and confidence scores soared. She learned how to manage her anxiety, found her voice, and developed a beautiful sense of belonging. As her mother, who was deeply moved by the change in her daughter, told us: "I" quickly built positive relationships and felt happy, safe, and heard… We could always see the positive impact after sessions.”

Six sessions may sound like a brief window of time, but to a child trapped by anxiety, they are a complete turning point. Your £540 donation has given Isla the tools she needs to navigate the world with courage.
Thank you for your incredible compassion and for investing in the future of our county’s children.
With warmest wishes and deepest gratitude,

Rebecca Wheaton
