Redhill Rising, a music charity that arranges local community choirs in an inclusive environment will give a talk. They are organising an event at the Racecourse as part of next years Derby festival. Below is an extract from an email from Ellie Franklin.
"I'm writing on behalf of Franklin Music CIC about Redhill Rising, our inclusive community music project. Last year's performance at the Belfry brought together four local schools, two community choirs and over 270 children and adults, and was recognised by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council as the first project of its scale and inclusivity in the borough.
We're now planning the 2027 Epsom season, at Epsom Downs Racecourse, as part of the Derby Festival, alongside a return performance in Redhill. Support would go towards subsidising school participation, transport and inclusive communication resources for children and adults with disabilities right here in Epsom.
We have also just completed a short documentary about the development and impact of our Rising project. It runs for 20 minutes and gives a really good flavour of the work, particularly the way the schools, community groups, partners and funders have come together around it.
Would your members be interested in having a screening of the documentary first, followed by me talking about the plans for Epsom Rising and answering questions? Alternatively, I can send you the film in advance if you would prefer members to watch it beforehand and keep the evening itself focused on the Epsom project.
I’d be very happy to shape the evening around whatever would work best for you".
