ALLOTMENT -
First of the year's crop taken to the Pantry Epsom - Visit from Manager and Member of the Pantry
Ongoing work at the allotment by a very dedicated member and team to ensure anything is planted up, watered, nurtured and ready to provide the Panty in Epsom with as much produce as possible.
Maggie took down this week a wonderful tray of lettuces just for starters as other plants catch up.
The new Polytunnel houses an array of tomatoes,peppers/chillies and cumcumbers. Anne and Clive have also helped along the way and have attended regularly, Anne another expert on gardening tending to what she knows best, and Clive carrying out some maintenance work as and when, and I have done muchof the strimming, some watering etc all to ensure the area is kept safe and presentable. All further help by some of our new members has also been much appreciated and this is also expressed to some of the further volunteers too.
We also had a visit from a new managerat the Pantry who brought some of her volunteers who all expresed the environment was really refreshing and all said that they enjoyed the visit.
We welcome any help at this amazing worthwhile project, whether it be an hour a month, occasionally, assistance with watering, even just a vist as everyone is welcome and all for a very good cause. Working at the allotment is both social, and productive and even if a novice, some help is always available.
The need to assist the Epsom Pantry is greater than ever, and support in excess of some thousand people yearly, with approximately 40% of users being children.
