LADIES DAY AND DERBY DAY - EPSOM DOWNS RACECOURSE
With courtesy of the Jockey Club many charities and exhibitors were given a courtesy bus in a new initiative at the Epsom Races. We were lucky enough to be given free an open deck bus for the enjoyment of being part of the vibriant event, socialise and promote the club as a whole. We arrived pretty early on Friday to decorate the bus with plenty of bunting, Epsom Rotary signage and promotional materials. Thanks goes to Maggie and Clive for organising and dealing with this. The event opened at around 11 am, and the whole of the racecourse was populated with a vast many people. We brought our own food and still had the opportunity to enjoy all the fun of the races, as the location at "the Hill" was close to the running course. We had a number of visitors throughout the day, members and friends, and some visits from the community. The entertainment in the community zone included live music, funfair rides, food and drinks stands..Some of us had a flutter of course - well it added to the excitement of a very well known event. Ladies Day exhibited much competition with the Ladies - colourful, enthusing and living up to its name.
Friday, was a great day but unfortunately it very much rained on Derby Day but everyone who attended had a great deal of fun and grateful to the Jockey Club for giving us the opportunity of being part of the event.
