Over the last two years and continuing into this Rotary year, Croydon Rotary Club has been raising funds for a ventilator for severely sick children.
Croydon has the largest number of young people in any London Borough but for those who might be suffering from intense breathing problems and require prolonged and specific treatment, the only answer up to now has been a transfer by ambulance to St George’s or St Thomas’s hospital. Last year 70 children were treated in this way
Croydon has now been able to purchase its own ventilating machine and we at Croydon Rotary are proud to have been part of their fundraising project.
The first picture shows the ventilating machine, the second shows our three presidents, John Cheetham, Patricia Painting and Loraine Davis, who have together, led the club in raising the funds, together with some of the hospital staff who run the unit.

The Fundraising Committee exists to coordinate the year’s fundraising,
focusing mainly, but not exclusively, on the President’s chosen charity.
