As part of Croydon’s Year of Culture, a competition was held to celebrate the King’s Coronation! Pupils from Croydon’s Primary Schools were invited to paint a picture showing what the Coronation had meant to them.
The competition was divided into two age groups, 5-7 and 8-11, and the results were amazing!
The winner of the 8-11 group drew an incredible likeness of the King Charles and the runner up in that group tried to depict the procession scene on the way to Westminster Abbey – the judges particularly liked the king’s trousers and braces on this one.
The youngest winner drew a wonderfully colourful depiction of a cake with a flower on top.
President John Cheetham and other Rotary members attended the prize giving along with other Rotary members from Sanderstead and Selsdon.
