On March 29, we presented more Rotary Star awards to three pupils at Broadmead Primary School.
Reilly, Jayden and Santiago, leading members of the Year 6 Green Team have taken it upon themselves to go around the school picking up plastic, aluminium and paper items that can then be recycled. Their enthusiasm has produced dozens of bags which are now waiting to be sent to the recycling centre.
Not only have Reilly, Jayden and Santiago enthused their own year group but they are training up younger members of the school to continue their good work when they leave Broadmead in July.
Besides a certificate, badge and £5 each, the boys were also given a paper back book about football – and their own litter pickers which they were absolutely delighted with. Well done Reilly, Jaden and Santiago, keep up the good work.
The awards were presented, on behalf of Croydon Rotary Club, by Club Secretary Barbara Harker. She and and Graham Harker, were welcomed by Deputy Head Grace McDougall.

NOTE: In order to be members of Broadmead's recently established 'Green Team', pupils had to complete an application form. In addition to their outstanding work mentioned above, Reilly, Jayden and Santiago, are currently researching possible art projects, using collected bottles, that the whole school can get involved with.
