The local heat of Rotary's Young Chef competition took place at Hawick High School on 9th December. Fourteen students from S4 and S5 took part. This was financially supported by Muirhall Energy and organised jointly by Hawick Rotary and School staff members Kirsty Ritchie, Victoria Lowrie and Stacey Grieve. Muirhall staff were unable to travel to take part in the judging because of Storm Bram so Rotarians Mairhi Trickett and Judy Tyler made the difficult decisions.
The winner - and Hawick Young Chef for 2025-26 – was Aiden Stewart, with Katie Mein in second place. The judges also Highly Commended Eliot Deans, Warren Jackson, Leo Lawrie, Shaniqua Matema, and Beth Thomson. The two winners were presented with gift vouchers by Hawick Rotary's Youth Convenor Ron Smith, who complimented all participants on their work and thanked the High School staff and Muirhall Energy for their cooperation in staging the event.
