On Monday 24th November a party of nine Hawick Rotarians travelled across to Jedburgh for a visit to that town's Rotary. They met at Jed Thistle Rugby Clubrooms where they were welcomed by President Margaret Lee. After a meal prepared and served by Rotarian Amanda, they heard the arrangements being made for the Winter Festival parade on Jedburgh's High Street on Friday 28th. Attention then turned to the actual creation of lanterns which would be issued to those taking part in the parade. All had been asked to bring glass jars. These were then filled with strings of LED lights, the battery units with switches left hanging outside, then the jars covered with coloured net bags (of the type used to contain supermarket vegetables) which were caught in at the top by the jars lid. These then formed very effective coloured, twinkling, lanterns ready for the parade. Around 100 would be made on this evening.
