Hawick Rotary's annual 'big event', aka President's Night, took place at Mansfield Park Clubrooms on Friday 24th October. Sixty members and friends, including representatives of other Borders clubs, attended and enjoyed an excellent meal provided by Debbie Brown Catering.
District Governor Brenda Waugh was present to induct latest Club member Jacqui Martin and also to present Linden Warburton with the Rotary honour of Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition of her work over the years on the Lend With Care scheme, providing loans by Hawick Rotary to small businesses across the world.
The raffle raised £445, to be halved between the local Dementia Cafe and the Rotary International project to End Polio Now, this being World Polio Day. The stand at Mansfield Park was illuminated in purple for the evening in recognition of the slogan 'Purple for Polio'. In addition, the generous donation by Nick and Shirley Bell, of a two night stay at a lodge within Lilliardsedge Park, was auctioned and raised a further £200 for Dementia Cafe.
Afterwards musicians Tommy Mulvee and John Nicol entertained the company, before the evening drew to a close, although many stayed on for further chat.
