Members discuss current projects

Last week, the Club had a Business Meeting where thought was given to current projects. Linden Warburton gave an interesting report on progress of the Club's Lend With care scheme. She told of five new loans of £30 each being made to farmers in Ecuador and Thailand, to a sewing and tailoring business in Thailand and to a retail store in the Philippines. She and her small team were thanked by members for their dedication to this scheme which since inception has made 165 loans amounting to investment of £6,863, 116 of these having been so far repaid in full, with this funding then being recycled for other small businesses.

Advance notice is being given of a Quiz in the Evergreen Hall on November 21st, in aid of Hawick Rotary's support of youth activities at Hawick High School. The Club has an excellent relationship with the school promoting Young Artist, Young Chef, Young Musician and Young Photographer competitions, as well as helping with Mock Interview practice for older students. For several years the Club's President has been invited to join the interviewing panel for selection of the School's Head Pupils team and this has also meant that the members of this team come along to a Club meeting to tell of their role in the school and their ambitions for the future.

This quiz is open for teams of four, at £16 per team, and further details will follow.
