On Thursday 25th July, Hawick Rotarians met on Denholm Green to try their skill at petanque. This was perhaps the fourth opportunity members had had at this sport, and several showed artistry and skill. An enjoyable time was had by all before, to his surprise, and that of many others, Ron Smith defeated Tony Warburton in the final. Ron then thanked Tommy Mulvee, who had again organised the event.
The group then moved across to The Auld Cross Keys for a very social meal.
Before the competition started, President Mairhi Trickett asked members for a minute's silence in tribute to Rotarian Jim Walker who had died unexpectedly on July 18th. Jim was a real gentleman, a pleasure to know. He contributed much to Hawick Rotary over his years of membership,
