This week’s speaker was Andy Tyler who talked about Snapping Birds. Through a series of pictures he showed how his ability to take photos of birds had progressed from distant black & white images to coloured close-ups as cameras, film and technology advanced. He said that with digital photography it is now economically possible to take lots of pictures, whereas using film rolls one was very aware of the cost of each one. As a top photographer reckons that it takes at least 1,000 photos to get one great one, Andy is not surprised that he frequently doesn’t get a good one when he simply snaps birds that he comes across. He did finish with some of his better ones of the birds which had passed in front of his lens.
