After the meal last week, Scott Elliot stretched members firstly with a spelling competition, in which all members got a B grade or higher, and then called on two unsuspecting members to talk about a subject of their choosing for five minutes. Both comfortably managed to pass the time - Jim Walker with reminiscences of train spotting and model railways and Ron Smith with a talk about racehorse ownership. Members left rueing errors in the spelling but wiser on two unexpected topics.
