There was a Business Meeting on 18th April, when members heard that the project to plant native hardwood trees on an edge of Hawick Moor would not be possible at present. For logistical reasons the planting season had been missed and it is now planned to complete the project when the new season begins in October.
The following night, three members travelled to attend Langholm Rotary Club's Annual Dinner. Langholm's President, Roger Maxwell, hosted an evening which put much focus on the funding of local groups made possible through the Club-organised Umbrella Walk, which is supported by around 30 local groups, and with the help of several charitable trusts based in the town dispenses over £30,000. Representatives of Canonbie Primary School, Ewes Village Hall, and Xcel Youth Project provided information on the difference such funding had made to them.
