A most enjoyable Rotary meeting was held last week, when Pastoral Teacher Mrs Shona Murray and the four members of the High School's Pupil Heads team visited us at Mansfield House Hotel. After our meal, Mrs Murray introduced the four students Stroma Beukes, Grace Gibb, Rihanna Smillie and Joseph Wear. Each then told us in turn of the rรดle of the Pupil Heads team within the school and of their own interests and ambitions. The Rotarians were much impressed by the performances of these students, asked many questions, and reflected on the vastly changed environment between the senior pupils of 2023 and the Rotarians' own experiences at that age.
After Mairhi Trickett had led the well-merited Vote of Thanks, President Ron Smith commented on the very strong relationship between High School and Hawick Rotary over recent years. This is shown through the participation of High School pupils in Rotary Competitions such as Young Artist and Young Chef and by reciprocal invitations to take part in Rotary or in School initiatives. Ron closed by inviting the students to take part in Hawick Rotary's meetings at any time.
