Members discuss a range of current issues

Hawick Rotary met twice last week with a Business Meeting at Mansfield House Hotel covering a wide range of current projects and issues on Thursday evening and then the annual President's Night event at Mansfield Park Clubrooms on Friday.

President Scott Elliot welcomed 63 Rotarians and friends from across the Borders, with visitors attending from the Galashiels, Jedburgh, Langholm and Melrose Clubs as well as District Governor Duncan Collinson and his wife Jill from the Braids Club in Edinburgh. A splendid meal was provided by Debbie Brown Catering and local stars Michael Aitken, Bernie Armstrong and Joyce Tinlin provided an exceptionally varied musical entertainment before and after.

A raffle raised £510 split equally between the Disasters Emergency Committee Pakistan Floods Appeal and Bernie Armstrong's Triple Extra Mile Challenge. It was great to hear from Bernie that his challenge had now raised over £10,000 for Alzheimers Scotland, Macmillan Nurses and Oliver's Trust.
