At their meeting on 7th April, Hawick's Rotarians considered current projects and other business. Linden Warburton reported on progress of the Lend With Care scheme where small but significant loans are mead to businesses worldwide. The balance in this specific account at end of February had been £114.71, but loans of £30 each had been made to two farmers in Cambodia, to a builder in Vietnam, to two retail grocers in the Philippines and in Malawi, to a school clothing provider in Peru and to a rickshaw repairer in Pakistan. These had been partly funded from repayments and the balance in the account is now £5.83. Members are always interested in how this scheme is going, with around £4000 having been advanced over the years from an initial seed funding of about £500.
