An excellent turnout of members had an enjoyable meal then heard from local podiatrist Jim Fisher. Jim spoke of how his work had recently changed. His son Darren has taken forward the business by opening premises on High Street while Jim focuses on domiciliary visits to patients and to care homes. He clarified the differences between chiropodist, orthotist and podiatrist, then began by showing diagrams of the structure of the foot before looking at the various conditions which might affect bones, skin and nails. This was all presented in an informal and easily understood way, and was followed by a useful question and answer session. George Hogg gave a vote of thanks and then Jim made himself available to answer questions face to face with individual members.
