Hawick Rotary President's Night special event was held at Mansfield Park Clubrooms on Friday 3rd October. President George Hogg welcomed almost 50 guests, including Club Presidents Neil Gass of Langholm Rotary and Graham Easton of Selkirk, as well as Past District Governor Brenda Waugh.
The customary splendid meal was prepared and served by Debbie Brown and her team, with entertainment provided beforehand by the Junior Section of Hawick Saxhorn Band led by Bandmaster Greig Murray and afterwards by the remarkable Andy Schofield who performed many numbers on both clarinet and saxophone.
President George spoke of the highlights of his year so far, giving details of fundraising efforts and of the groups being supported. The raffle on the evening raised £315 for The Samaritans.
The Vote of Thanks was given by Vice President Judy Tyler.
Next on the horizon is the Club's Quiz on Friday 6th November at the Evergreen Hall (6.30 p.m. For 7 p.m. Start). This is to raise funds in support of Hawick Rotary's work with local schools. £20 per team. It would be helpful for the planning to have team entries in advance, to Secretary Andy Tyler at athawrot@gmail.com
