The event began with demonstrations of Skateboarding and BMX bikes by experienced skateboarders and riders showing a dazzling arrange of tricks and moves that were enjoyed by an appreciative crowd.
There were a good number of entrants for the skateboarding, scooter and BMX bike competitions organised and judged by Skateboard Scotland and these were run as heats for younger and older entrants. There was a high standard of tricks and moves on display from the competitors and points were awarded by the judges for the programme and fluency of moves carried out. The highest scoring competitors in each heat then progressed to a final to determine the overall winners in each category.
It was a fun day with takeaway gifts for all competitors and the prizes were presented by Provost John McMillan to the overall winners in each category.
The results for the Skateboard Final were:
Skate Jam
BMX Jam
Scoot Jam
There are some good photos of the day and just some of these are shown here in reduced size.
It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves and making good use of the skatepark.
We are very grateful for the generous sponsorship from Haddington & Lammermuir Partnership, Mikes Bikes, Coast to Coast Surf School, Joe Forte Sports, Clan Skates and Skateboard Scotland and thank them all for making this event possible.
