The 2021 Pinner Village Show - a great success!
Thank you to everyone who supported our Pinner Rotary Village Show on Saturday 11th September. It was a fantastic community occasion with a record turnout and a considerable sum raised for Harrow Samartians and other Rotary supported charities. The unexpectedly sunny weather was the icing on the cake!
The show was declared open by our Rotary District Governor, Karen Eveleigh. There followed a non-stop programme of live entertainment from the Merrydowners Morris dancers, children's entertainer David Wilde with his Punch & Judy show and local classic rock band Simply Gray. The Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Ghazanfar Ali, drew the winners of the Lucky Programme prizes and finally the Glen Trew Pipers closed the show.
There were many colourful stalls to visit, some selling handicrafts, plants and preserves, others promoting local organisations and raising funds from tombolas and lucky dips. Excited youngsters queued up to enjoy the classic fairground rides, trampoline and bouncy slide.
The food stalls were all kept busy as everyone enjoyed having a day out in the sunshine. There was a wide choice of foods available, from burger and chips to freshly made dosa, with doughnuts, cakes and ice cream for dessert all washed down with coffee or a beer, or even a glass of Pimms!
The planning for this year's show started late and was overshadowed by uncertainty due to the pandemic - some people were surprised that we were going ahead at all. So a special thank you to the entertainers, stall holders, programme advertisers, and most of all the Pinner Rotarians who gave their support and produced such a brilliant show.
