Rotary supports the Penge Festival
The Rotary club of Lewisham & Penge were very happy to be invited to participate if the Penge festival. The weather was in complete contrast to the event held in June 2016 when it was held in heavy rain and impacted upon the number of visitors.
Under clear blue sky’s with high temperatures the festival attracted many people who were not only sightseers but actively participated with the wide variety of stalls there.
Our Club ran a tombola bottle stall, which was extremely popular being busy all day until the event closed at 5.00pm. Rotary Club members donated all bottles, with a wide variety on offer. Proceeds will be used for charity purposes during the forthcoming Rotary Year.
Many thanks go to Rotarians Alan & Sheila Davis, Tony Anaka, Bob Farley, Joe Burchell Ruby Austin, Peter & Jo Earll. Also to Rotarian Chris Pendred for his assistance in providing and setting up marquee and helping out for most of the day.
Entertainment provided by the organisers was excellent with music ranging from Pop, Reggae to an excellent folk group who demonstrated their expertise with a wide variety of numbers.
