LEARNING ABOUT THE FESTIVAL OF EUROPE!

We were delighted to welcome Elaine Ballantyne as our speaker this week as she gave us an in-depth understanding of the ‘Festival of Europe’ which will take place this year between 7-17 May.

The aims of the Festival are to strengthen the ties between Scotland, the UK and Europe. Taking place each year around Europe Day (May 9), this festival brings together everyone who believes co-operation and shared values can shape a more peaceful, democratic, sustainable and free Europe.

The festival’s 2026 programme includes talks, debates, walks, films, dance, art, music and community events — with plenty of ways to get involved wherever you are.

Many of the events are free, and the organisers are hoping to build on last year’s successful Festival.

Thanks so much for your very informative talk, Elaine!

If you would like to learn about interesting new subjects every week then why not join us!
