Report on Duns Rotary Primary School Quiz


The Rotary Club of Duns held the first round of their annual Primary School Quiz on Thursday 23rd January.

 

Teams from Coldstream, Greenlaw, Swinton and Duns Primary Schools participated in the quiz. The event was kindly hosted by Duns Primary School, the 2013 winners.

 

The quiz is an annual competition by Rotary District 1020 which covers most of Southern Scotland and the central belt excluding Glasgow. The questions are the same for all participating pupils throughout the District.

 

The Quiz consisted of eight rounds with four questions in each. The categories for the rounds were:- Language and Literacy , Maths and Numeracy, Health and Well Being, Expressive Arts, Science, Technology, Social Studies and RME, and Pot Luck.

 

The contest was keenly fought with all teams initially challenging for the lead.  Then Duns edged into the lead with Swinton close behind. However Greenlaw fought back and were one point ahead at the start of the final round. Everyone was biting their nails as the final scores were read out. Duns had crept into the lead to win by one point!
