Our speaker on 8th January is Scott McFarlane, Artist in Residence in Shetland
Scott McFarlane qualified in Fine Art with Education from Leeds University in 1989.
He was Headteacher in North Yorkshire for 18 years prior to taking on Painting full-time and moving to Dumfries and Galloway in 2020. Since 2020 he has exhibited in Kirkcudbright, Castle Douglas and has had an open studio at his home near Borgue as part of the Spring Fling event. He has also provided sketching sessions and taught groups in Castle Douglas, Thornhill and at Broughton House National Trust in Kirkcudbright.
He has also had the pleasure of being accepted on Arts residencies for the last three years through
W.A.S.Ps in Skye 2024, C.A.T in Cromarty 2025 and in November 2026 he will be Artist in residence in the Shetland Isles with W.A.S.Ps and Shetland Arts.
