"Every Rotarian an Example to Youth" is our expression to commitment to children and youth in each community. Through Starfish Malawi we learned about the need for help with the children of Chitiwari. Children who had no clean water, no desks in the school.
This primary school is situated in Malawi 6 miles from Salima. The school was started in 2000 and before that most of the children did not attend school. The children are from very poor communities which do not benefit at all from tourism in the country. All water is collected from a borehole which can be anything from 100 metres to half a mile away.
A family need a minimum of 10 buckets per day for basic living and which is collected by the women and girls of the household. Which often means that the girl is kept at home for this duty and does not receive any schooling!
Our Youth service projects take many forms around the world.
Some of our more prolific international work has been.
Our International Friendship means that we are twinned with Rotary Club of Cochem-Zell in Germany and with Rotary Club Of Caen in France. We have a great association with these clubs and enjoy meeting with the Rotarians & families each year.
The Toast is to "Rotary The World Over".
