Rainham Orchard
Working alongside other Rotary Clubs in Medway
In 2014 a band of volunteers rescued five acres of overgrown apple orchard in Lower Rainham. Agreement was reached with the owner that the volunteers would run it both as a productive orchard and for the benefit of wildlife. Each autumn the orchard is opened up to the community for Pick Your Own apples - all proceeds from the sale of apples is donated to Kent Wildlife Trust.
Strood Rotary together with other local clubs manned the sales tent and directed traffic.
Other the course of the various weekends in September and October and, despite the rain, £4660 was raised in total.

President Hazel assisted by her granddaughter Isabelle has delivered 50 bags for children to St Nicholas in Strood. They will be sent out to families in need over the next few days. The Reverend David Green sends his thanks to Strood Rotary.

The last annual Quiz was held on 23 February 2019 at Shorne Village Hall where hundreds of pounds was raised for charitable causes. In honour of our quiz setter who died recently we are renaming the trophy the Denis Elvy Cup.
