50th Anniversary
Celebratory Dinner
The Club celebrated its 50th anniversary of the awarding of its Charter in June 1976. The celebratory dinner was held at the new Rocks & Wheels centre in the former Dalbeattie Primary School building. The purpose of the Dinner was extended to a celebration of the spirit of voluntary commitment to the community demonstrated by many individuals and organisations over this period and who were the club’s guests at the function. It was attended by over 100 people. Speakers included the Lord Lieutenant of the Stewartry and Dame Barbara Kelly who is not only Patron of the Rocks & Wheels project but whose father was a former headteacher of the Primary School and who did herself receive her early education there. It was a highly enjoyable evening.

David Hailstone, told us of the project he is leading, based on Dalbeattie's Rounel wood. This seeks to see habitat restoration for hedgehogs and other wildlife.
