Legends

There are many myths and legends surrounding Rotary clubs. Our legends are the many individuals who work tirelessly to support our local community and on occasions those in need across the world such as our Polio eradication program.  Last Rotary year (ending (June 30), over £7,100 was raised to support local charities and good causes through your support many local charities benefited including local schools and their SEND programmes.

We welcome all individuals, serving as a popular community service outlet while actively correcting the myth that membership is restricted to strictly professional people.

Many members do join after finishing their career to find friendship, purpose, and structure. Clubs feature a mix of working and retired people from their local community, a diverse mixture of ages, professions, vocational skills and ability mean we’re a diverse bunch.

Myths

There are many myths surrounding Rotary, including “You have to attend every meeting”, or “It’s a political organisation” or “You need special skills to join”. 

Nothing could be further from the truth. 

Rotary recognises the demands of modern life, and clubs offer a flexible attendance policy, making it easier for you to stay involved. Rotary is a non-political, non-religious organisation  It brings people together regardless of their beliefs, focusing on service to our community and as a club building fellowship and long term friendship between us.

The main requirement is a desire to serve the local community and support the people of Rye & Winchelsea, but also those local charities and other good causes that need our support.
