Hythe Rotary 75th anniversary celebrations


The original Charter Date of the club was 9 March 1949. This event was led by President John Gabris at the Hythe Imperial Hotel celebrating what had been achieved during the past 75 years. Guests included The Rt Hon the Lord Michael Howard of Lympne, Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, Major Dennis Bradley and his wife Mave, Right Worshipful Town Mayor of Hythe, Councillor Anita Jones and her husband Steve, Member of Parliament for Folkestone & Hythe, Damian Collins and his wife Sarah, Rotary District Governor of South East District 1120, Ray Seager and his wife Caroline, Assistant District Governor of South East District 1120, Peter Sherred and his wife Mary and the President of Abbeville Rotary Club (Contact Club in France) Anton Joseph and his wife Melanie. The evening was made more special by the presentation of a Sapphire Paul Harris Award to Harry Wooding for his continuing exceptional work and support to the club and a certificate recognising 50 years of service to John Batten. In addition to this Laura Hayden was inducted into the club as a new member. A splendid evening was had by all that attended.
