Welcome to the home page of our club Foundation Committee. The Rotary Foundation is the Rotary's own Charity and is supported by all Rotarians. It is the biggest non-government fund in the world. This provides a source of funding that Rotary clubs and Rotary districts all over the world can draw on to undertake projects in one of the following areas: water and sanitation, basic education and literacy, maternal and child health and economic and community developments.
The Rotary Foundation initiated the Polio+ programme in 1985 which undertook to eradicate the Polio virus from this planet. By July of 2010 Rotary had committed more than $900 million to global polio eradication. The fight is nearly won and polio is now endemic in only 4 countries in the world. In 2011 Wilkin Tiptree joined with Rotary in a UK nationwide campaign and donated specially labelled bottles of their Tomato Ketchup as a way of raising money for this cause. By 2014 Polio was only endemic in 3 countries Nigeria, Afganistan and Pakistan. A target goal of 2018 as been set to free the wold of Polio.
