Eastbourne Skittles Championship 2026

A record three hundred entrants took part in this, the fourth Annual Eastbourne Skittles Championships for camaraderie, competition and occasional calamity during June.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Eastbourne and sponsored by Stephen Rimmer LLP Solicitors, the event was once again successfully held at the Saffron Sports Club. The event was held from 15^th to 18^th June and each evening teams made up of work colleagues, charities, friends and families from all over the local community competed for the honour of  being crowned the Eastbourne Skittles Champions.

Teams consisted of some regulars and also some complete novices. They showed that strength does not necessarily mean more skittles tumble as some of the most successful rounds of the evening were bowled by competitors using the lighter bowls. Each evening was filled with fun and laughter as the skittles fell or, unexpectedly for some, annoyingly remained standing!

A winner was announced every night being the team with the highest score. Monday evening saw the team from New Age Bowlers collect the winner’s trophy with a creditable score of 324 followed by Stephen Rimmers Solicitors on Tuesday with 313, Eastbourne Motoring Centre on Wednesday evening with an amazing score of 327 and Eastbourne Townies (WI) collecting the fourth trophy on Thursday evening with a winning score of 290.

So, for the fourth year running Eastbourne Motoring Centre excelled again as the ultimate winners, stealing the show by not only winning the trophy for the highest score for an individual player during the week but also the Eastbourne Skittles Championship shield. Well done to all who took part !

This is the fourth year the competition has been run by the Rotary Club of Eastbourne and every year the number of teams entering increases. This year’s event raised in excess of £2,700 which will be distributed to local charities in addition to the £7,000 we have donated over the last year.
