Mock Interviews

At St Richard's College

A great day for Mock Interviews at
St Richard's Catholic College

This morning Bexhill Rotary, in conjuction with St Richard's Career Lead, Chloe Lyons, organised Mock Interviews for all the Year 10 students. This excercise involved 50 volunteer interviewers prepared to give up a whole morning to interview 200 students, approximately four students each.

The interviews are part of the Year 10's work experience training, and are intended to give each student direct experience of having to talk face to face about their life and ambitions in the context of a simulated job interview. The students were aware of the importance of this event and had to prepare a personal statement/CV, and themselves to be ready for their turn to be interviewed.

The Mock Interviews took place in the main hall and some of the classrooms. Each interviewr was given a list of candidates they would be meeting and instructions and report sheets recommending how to conduct the interview and what points to note for the feedback.

Each indivdual interview is unique and depends on the style and experience of the interviewer as much as that of the student. The key objective is to enable the students to get a really positive experience and feedback to prepare them for their future carrer pathways.

The event ran extremely smoothly and was a credit to the school how well the students behaved and responded to the challenge.

Rotarian Tim Pilbeam said "Bexhill Rotary Club is proud to have been running this event for the last fifteen plus years and we regard it as a vital service to the community, enabling us to help invest in the next generation's success. I wish to give my very sincere thanks to everyone who was able to help us achive this goal."
