Wet Wet Wet - but we kept on going

Bexhill Rotary Club were asked to help Rother Council create a new fringe for the North edge of the old boating pond in Egerton Park. By the 5th September all the materials were alongside the pond waiting for the willing volunteers to help build and fill the required area.

Only problem was the weather was not playing ball, overcast trending to continuous downpoors, "Still" said David Dixson our Vice Presedent, "it's better than too much sunshine!" We had eleven bags(sixteen tons) of sand, soil and topsoil to shift from one side of the pond to the other. "It reminds me of an old song" said Brian.

The first team were flogged out by noon, but had managed to use up all but the last two bags of topsoil. The afternoon shift checked in to see if we were still working in the pooring rain, to which we answered "Oh Yes We Are".

So with fresh faces and shovels the remaining soil was put in place. After which Rother staff brought out the new plants to lay out on the fringe we had creqated.

Bexhill Rotary were pleased to get involved with this project, and although we ran out of soil by the end of the afternoon, we didn't run out of enthusiasm for making this project get going.

Onwards and upwards.
