Fundraising for "End Polio Now" campaign.

Race Night raises £1000 for End Polio Now

Bexhill Rotary Club met at the Bexhill Sailing Club on the evening of 1st March to run a Race Night to raise funds for Rotary International's "End Polio Now" campaign. This long term project has been successfully eradicating Polio throughout the World with the ambition to completley remove the virus that causes Polio.

Global figures for new Polio cases have dropped to extremely low levels in only a couple of hot spots, but the wars that have occurred over the last few years have put this situation at risk, so more work is needed to stamp out these threats with targetted vaccination programs in the most vulnerable areas.

So on a beautiful starry evening 60+ Rotary members, friends and family gathered for a fun evening of fundraising with a Race Night. The venue was perfect and the fish and chip suppers prepared by Louis Fish Restaurant in Sea Road were well received by the crowd.

With eight races to follow and more than sixty horses to back there was frantic activity trying to study "form and land" to get the winning formula, atendees could also become owners to increace their winning opportunities.

At the end of the evening President Hugh Allen gave his thanks to the Fundraising Team and the Sailing Club for making the whole evening a great success and was able to announce that the total monies raised had reached £1,000.
