Once again Bexhill Rotary Club’s annual Golf Day was a roaring success. Teams of four golfing friends, many from local businesses, turned up to participate in this annual day of enjoyment to raise money for good causes. This year the event was held at Highwoods Golf Course where the participants met in the morning for coffee and bacon rolls to fortify themselves for the challenge.
Despite occasional showers the teams battled each other with the best two scores on each hole to count. The overall winners were the Earlsfield Court Team with the impressive score of 92 who just pipped Ashdown Hurrey, with 90 points, to the top place.
As an added challenge there was a ‘beat the idiot’ challenge at hole 7 where, for a £10 wager, contestants could bet on getting their ball closer to the flag than the ‘idiot’ (aka Paul Grant – husband of the event organizer Rotarian Cara Grant). All the golfers gamely took the challenge and if successful had their names put forward for the draw for £100.
The prizegiving dinner was enjoyed at the Golf club in the evening when Cara congratulated the winners and thanked everyone for their part in making this a very special day and raising approximately £2,500 for those less fortunate than themselves.
