BEXHILL ROTARIANS GET THE LOWDOWN ON PARANORMAL MYSTERIES & COVER UPS

On Tuesday 31st January Bexhill Rotarians were treated by guest speaker, Andy Thomas (pictured), to an entertaining and lively talk all about unexplained phenomena.

Andy, who is a leading researcher into unexplained mysteries and author of many books on the subject, firstly talked about crop circles which have got people guessing since the 1th century and posed the question ‘are they made by planks or, maybe, is there some unknown origin?’.

Moving on, he talked about the Bermuda Triangle and posed the question of whether the strange goings on are down to the weather or is the area a portal to another world. The next topic he covered was strange animal reports; for example, The Bigfoot in the USA, and the Yeti in the Himalayas - the DNA extracted from ‘Yeti hair’ found in the mountains points to a bear.

He also mentioned Nessie in Scotland and various big cat sightings around this country creating more mystery.

Andy next moved on to ghosts and out of body experiences mentioning that 10% of people believe they have seen a ghost and other odd occurrences.

There have been reports by patients under anaesthetic that they have had an out of body experience.

The next subject was the USA and Russia who, Andy said, are actively looking into flying saucer reports, which poises the question, are there alien beings exploring our planet?

He rounded off his presentation talking about symbolism, for example the pyramid form, which occurs over the centuries and the ridicule used to denigrate it, such as Galileo and Copernicus who were both ridiculed for suggesting that the Earth was a sphere and rotated around the sun.

After a good round of applause at the end of Andy’s fascinating and thought- provoking talk, Rotarian Sean Woodhouse gave a hearty vote of thanks for an entertaining evening.
