Over fifty guests were welcomed at St Augustine’s Church Hall for the annual Rotary Tea Party. After a welcome to guests and the Mayor, Councillor Lynn Brailsford, and her husband from President James Slinn, we were entertained by Rotarian John Coles (aka Mike Yarwood reborn) who gave his usual amusing and irreverent impersonations of well know politicians and celebrities of a bygone era. This was followed by the Rotary duo of Brian and Phil who sang a medley of popular songs and accompanied them on their guitars.
This was followed by the tea itself which enabled the guests to chat and renew old friendships as they were served by pupils from St Richard’s Catholic College.
After tea versatile singer Ritchie Lee entertained everyone with a selection of songs old and new. The pupils from St Richards enthusiastically participated in demonstrating dances and movements as he sang which added to the enjoyment of the whole audience.
At the end of the afternoon President James thanked the Mayor and all the guests for their attendance and complimented all the entertainers, especially the students from St Richard’s. He wished everyone a happy Christmas and looked forward to seeing everyone again next year.
