“Bexhill Rotary’s Bowling Night”
On a dark and windy Tuesday, 15th November to be exact, a large contingent of Bexhill Rotarians descended on Egerton Park Indoor Bowls Club in Bexhill to do battle on the bowling green.
On the basis of no sustenance means no bowling, the evening got off to a foody start with a hearty plate of ham, egg and chips, supplied by the friendly kitchen staff, with plenty of second helpings devoured, presumably to build up the stamina required to perform on the bowling green.
After Past President John Cooper gave the enthusiastic bowlers some use tips and guidance, it was down to the action on the bowling green. Some interesting techniques were seen by some of the bowlers, such as getting the bias wrong when sending the wood off meaning it arrived on the wrong rink! Then there was the throwing method which didn’t really help accuracy one bit, it bounced down the rink without direction. Some bowlers did get the hang of the right technique, some taking longer than others to master things.
At the end of the evening, everybody went home happy with their efforts, and relieved that nobody suffered any injuries. In fact a really good time was had by all.
