Bexhill Residents Foodbank Generosity
We have continued to support Bexhill Mayor Lynn Langlands initial lockdown project with collection of food and other items for the Bexhill Foodbank each Tuesday afternoon. As Christmas approached so did the generosity of Bexhill residents with the number of pickups increasing and the addition of many Christmas items for those less fortunate, leaving little space in the vehicles for much else. Rotarian Graham Forster said that organising collections was made very straightforward with the Mayor being notified of doorstep pickups via her Facebook page and Rotarians including President Stephen White only too keen to volunteer to help carry out the Covid safe pickups.
Recently collections have also been made to support the Bexhill Homeless Unity Group (HUG) based at St Barnabas Church. HUG encourage rough sleepers to take refuge with them where they can get something to eat and a hot drink seeing friendly faces and having someone to chat to, with the aim of helping and providing support for their individual and different needs from laundry and showers to finding accommodation/care placements. Project Manager Amanda thanked Bexhill Rotary for their recent support.
Mayor Lynn and Bexhill Rotary Club thank the people of Bexhill for their continued support and fantastic generosity in an area that is likely to have increased need as we enter 2021. Anyone wishing to add their support can contact Mayor Lynn or find out more via her Facebook page at any time or contact us using the link below.
