Funding for Sidley BMX Burners

£500 to help their projects

On Tuesday 10th September, Rotary Past President Graham Forster presented a cheque for £500 to the  the Sidley BMX Burners Club.  Past President Graham is pictured in the group photos with the Clubs national team rider Richard Penney.

The £500 will go towards a storage container as part of the new BMX Track development planned for November 2020.

The BMX Burners Club are working with partners including Rother Council and Heart of Sidley to upgrade the Sidley racetrack. The main reason for doing this is to provide a fun and state of the art BMX facility for local youngpeople and families to enjoy. The Club aim to make it a regional standardracetrack recognised by British Cycling (BC) as currently they are unable to host our own events (the track falls below standards). Considerable funding has been promised from RDC towards the track refurbishment, which they hope, will take place in summer 2020.

The club is going from strength to strength. They organise weekly coachingsessions with approximately 45 youngsters attending regularly.  and are currently working on a club development plan with ‘BC’ to develop coaching opportunities etc.

The Club are desperate to ensure that their track can facilitate futureaspirations, including infrastructure like Storage containers which are an essential feature of the new development, ideal for: storage of general equipment including track maintenance tools, storage of  bikes for coaching sessions, a base to make teas/ coffees and a space for Club officials to host events etc.
