£1,000 for Local Charities

Homecall and The Pelham Project each Receive £500.

2 Fantastic Local Charities are supported by Bexhill Rotary

President Graham of Bexhill Rotary Club attended a recent meeting of Homecall - a voluntary home visiting service for the local blind and partially sighted. He was welcomed by Leah Norman who accepted the £500 cheque on behalf of the Charity.Their weekly meetings are held at Wetherspoons in Western Road who kindly provide space and refreshment every Thursday from 10am to 12. Graham said "The enjoyment these people are having, given the opportunity to get out mix and meet and chat is absolutely wonderful and a joy to be part of". Over 60 carefully selected volunteers (in yellow) support the work of Homecall in Bexhill and surrounding areas for such everyday things as  opening, reading and actioning letters, help paying bills and other tasks at home requiring help to maintain independent living'.Anyone wishing to volunteer for Homecall can email Leah at leah.homecall@gmail.com.
Next stop for the Club President was The Pelham where Graham, accompanied by Vice-President Stephen, presented a £500 cheque to Ollie Jeffs, Manager of the Pelham Project. Ollie said the money would be used to expand and update the IT system at the Pelham. He explained about the work done at the Pelham, which supports a wide range of disadvantaged people in Bexhill as well as being a Community Centre providing a coffee shop, function rooms for hire by local people and a variety of groups and is expanding its role to include office space for local organisations, counselling provision and a lift to open up the upper floors to everyone. He went on to outline some of the longer term plans to provide opportunities for youth in the area both socially and in coaching them for job opportunities. Graham and Stephen were impressed by the enthusiasm of Ollie and his team and the progress they have made and plans they have for providing a welcoming and comprehensive centre for all the people of Bexhill and Sidley.
