Rotterdam Marathon


60 Years of Rotary Friendship.

This time last year the Rotary Club of Bexhill hosted a group of Gouda Rotarians being their Dutch contact Club over the past 59 years.

Gouda returned the compliment on the weekend of the 12/13th

April suggesting any number of Bexhill Rotarians were welcome to enter the Rotterdam marathon with the local Gouda team to commemorate 60 years of friendship.

A sole volunteer was found and Frank Field than set about preparing for the full 26 miles. Imagine his surprise to learn that the Gouda team were running in relay of just 6 miles each!

Having run in the London Marathon, Frank knew about the atmosphere and the benefit of fancy dress so decided on the Union Jack as his running theme thinking the Dutch would welcome a bit of colour.
