BEXHILL ROTARIANS LEARN ALL ABOUT CBT
At their first meeting of the New Year at Cooden Beach Golf Club on 7th January, Bexhill Rotarians learnt all about Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for their guest speaker Michelle McAlpine (pictured).
After being introduced by Bexhill Rotarian Dr. Binodh Bhaskaran, Michelle told a very attentive audience that she was born and raised near Loch Lomond in Scotland and she has been a fully qualified therapist for the last 20 years. She talked about the process of understanding stress (e.g. mood, thoughts, behaviour, physical) and how she can help patients through their difficulties and trying times. The types of difficulties are varied and include panic disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), social phobia, health anxiety, mild and moderate depression. Although Michelle is an experienced therapist with the NHS, she has lectured extensively on CBT therapy, including in London, and also works closely with local doctors
