The much hyped and eagerly awaited annual darts tournament between Bexhill Rotarians and Bexhill Past Rotarians took place a few days ago at the British Legion in Little Common.
According to rumour, Bexhill Past Rotarians had been feverishly practicing over the last few weeks eager to wrest the handsome trophy from Bexhill Rotary who, in blind faith and probably too much confidence, admitted that no practice whatsoever had taken place prior to the tournament because of a strong belief that they would repeat their winning score line of 2012 of 4-1 and, as a result, retain the trophy.
The atmosphere was, to say the least, electric as darts players from both sides, mostly displaying a total lack of ability, huffed and puffed with the supreme effort of throwing their darts some of which found difficulty in not only hitting the intended target but actually landing on the dart board itself!
After much banter and good humour, nail biting finishes (mostly, it has to be said, on double one!), and furrowed brows, Bexhill Rotary ran out winners by nine games to the Bexhill Past Rotarians
