Community Service is the traditional and well known face of Rotary International and Service above self is one of the key driving forces of the Rotary Movement.
Our Bexhill Club Committees remit is to promote and implement activities that provide charitable service and to support other charitable bodies.
These activities are in the main chosen in order to benefit individuals and organisations residing in the Bexhill Area; however our reach may extend to other areas as well. Bexhill Rotary Club welcomes requests for help from local organisations
Corona virus restrictions having eased means we can activly support the Mayors Food Bank initiative picking up food donations from the generous local public and delivering them to the Foodbank each week. We also plan further Beach Cleaning.
Committees Ongoing Service initiatives.
Blind Driving in Association with East Sussex Vision Support.
This will continue to be a key service that the Club has committed to for many years now. We have a core group of drivers supported by other Club members as required, undertaking Transport duties for blind or partially sighted members of the Association who meet every 1st Friday at St Augustine’s Church Hall. Dates for the second half of 2022 are 5th August, 2nd September, 7th October, 4th November and 2nd December .
Hearing Aid Service
This service plays a crucial part in our commitment in providing healthcare support to those in need in our community. It also strengthens our ties and builds bridges with local hospitals and independent care providers. Roger Heyes and his team have now extended cover to Bexhill Hastings and Eastbourne.
Charity Nominations
We are grateful for the efforts of all the club's members and public in supporting the Christmas and other Fundraising activities to provide a healthy pot to distribute to the nominated worthy causes. This year like last year will add challenges for fund raising due to Covid restrictions.
Our committee will focus on local causes and organisations proposed by our President and Council, but also gives consideration on any other causes recommended by any member of the club.
Bexhill Caring Community Initiatives
There will be continued focus on supporting this organisation where we can and as we have been doing for some years now.
Senior Citizens Tea Party
This event will hopefully follow on in true fashion entertaining some 100-seniorfolk. With an array of entertainment and a splendid afternoon tea spread a good time is always guaranteed for all.
The committee thank all members of our Club and their partners for the same superb support for this event in past years.
Health Awareness Day
We will continue to build on the previous successful Health Awareness and Blood Pressure Checking Days. This event is building a reputation for itself amongst the community. Last year there was even support from NHS Local Trust Healthcare Providers.
