Bexhill Rotary Club Celebrates Presidential Handover and Awards Evening

Sue Day inducted as 104th President
of Bexhill Rotary Club

On the evening of 7th July, members and guests of Bexhill Rotary Club gathered for a warm
and convivial Presidential Handover Meeting and Awards evening, during which Sue Day
was inducted as the 104th President of the Club.

President Sue thanked members for their support and set out some of the objectives she
hopes to achieve during her Presidential year. Speaking about the year ahead, she said: “My
hope for this year is simple: that we continue to build on that legacy, that we have some fun
along the way, and that we leave a lasting impact on the community we are so proud to
serve.”

The evening included the formal handover of the Presidential Chain from Past President
David Dixson to Sue Day. Sue then handed over the President Elect’s Chain to Tim Pilbeam,
who in turn presented the Vice President’s Chain to Robin Taylor.

Before relinquishing office, Past President David Dixson made a number of presentations,
including Paul Harris Fellowships to three Past Presidents: Patrick Donaldson, James Slinn
and Perry Puddefoot. These awards were made by the Club in recognition of their significant
contribution and continued support to Bexhill Rotary Club activities and the wider Bexhill
community over many years of dedicated Rotary service.

The Club also marked the retirement from active membership of long-standing member and
Past President Rodney Gadsden, following 44 years of service. David presented Rodney
with a Certificate of Exceptional Service in recognition of his outstanding commitment.
Although retiring from active membership, Rodney will remain closely connected with the
Club, having been elected as an Honorary Member.

Members were also pleased to welcome the new District Governor to the handover evening:
Bexhill Rotary Club’s own Past President Graham Foster, who was inducted as Governor of
RIBI District 1120 in June.

The evening was a celebration of fellowship, service and continuity, with members looking
ahead positively to a busy and enjoyable Rotary New Year and to continuing their work in
support of the local community.
