Rotary Beckenham organised the 12th Unofficial Poppy walk (now called Poppy Quest) on Sunday 15th October as part of it’s 2023 Poppy Appeal for the Royal British Legion.
The 10km route began at Bunhill Fields and proceeded through the Barbican, Smithfield, Holborn Viaduct, the Aldwych, Covent Garden,Trafalgar Square and Whitehall to the halfway point, St James’s Park. The return leg was via Victoria Embankment, the Strand, Fleet Street, St Paul’s Cathedral, St Martin-le-Grand, London Wall, Moorgate and back to the start.
There were 17 questions to be answered en route and a prize for the first team to complete the circular walk with the highest number of correct answers. Thank you to all the walkers for turning out on Sunday Oct 15th, such a chilly day, to walk 10km through the City of London, (although some of you thought it was more like 10 miles). There were 22 of you, we do value your support and you raised £450.00 so far for the Royal British Legion, with promises of another £90.00
There are some photos taken on the day and for anyone who had to drop out and would still like to do the Poppy Quest on their own or maybe with friends and family, please contact me and I will be pleased to provide you with all the necessary.
